What's wrong with "religion"?
Posted by Darren under Christians , Faith , God , Jesus , Movies , World ReligionsA few weeks ago a guy named Jeff Bethke posted a short spoken-word piece on YouTube entitled "Why I Hate Religion But Love Jesus". It unexpectedly became a minor sensation, gathering over 19 million hits. I can understand why some people are critical of it, but I can also understand where he is coming from; so much of what is called "religion" today is misguided or even hateful.
That's why I appreciate this video called "Religion – Why Isn't it Working?" by David Nasser, who was raised in Iran until his family was forced to flee the country. This 17 minute video is a powerful exploration of the subject of religion in the world.

I came across this blog by accident (it was linked to on a site with some games I was playing. And I haven't watched the video.
But this I know and share with you. Christianity is NOT a religion. It is a relationship. A relationship with the co-conceiver, co-creator and co-sustainer of the universe (see the first few verses of John's Gospel) who, one day, will return in glory.
Amen, come Lord Jesus.

Thanks for taking the time to comment Chris! I totally agree, and encourage you to watch the video when you have a chance. The speaker talks persuasively about the difference between God's truth and the common "religion" of the world.

I was working on a report on faith vs religion and I came across this page. I was literally stuck on some information, but after watching this video, I became more open-minded on the both. Thank you and this is a good planter for believers.
